How can Augmented Reality give a physical object new life? How can you interact “in AR” with a smartphone—for example, with a book, a magazine or a classic Bruno Munari game?

A phone as a magnifying glass

In the video and motion graphics workshop at IUAV Design, we explored this frontier where publishing meets digital. Augmented reality can bring a book back to life with video and audio 'bonus tracks,' can host interactive content that only plays when you're holding a magazine (without forcing the user into the chaos of YouTube or social media), and can even enable some very interesting interactions. Here is a selection of the animations created by the students.

By downloading the Aria App and scanning the images below (original illustrations of book covers), you can use your device to watch the associated video created by the students.
