Pertini. The Art of Democracy.
The exhibition design, multimedia and graphic project for the temporary exhibition dedicated to Sandro Pertini, created for M9 – Museum of the 20th Century.
Two exhibitions mirroring each other,
one inside the other.
The main concept of the installation translates into space the curators' idea of two parallel narratives: an exhibition with the artworks collected by Pertini –set against a dark background– and an exhibition with the narrative of his life unfolding against a light background.
To make the story of Sandro Pertini's long and prolific life accessible,
all the content on display was organized across different hierarchical levels
and aligned along a few common lines running through the entire installation.
Originals and reproductions
The exhibition's many iconographic contents are displayed partly through original documents
and partly through reproductions. The "originals" are contained within orange-colored frames,
which is the guiding color of the exhibition, running like a line throughout the entire path. Photos and videos
shown as reproductions are placed on the walls without distinction between static and moving images.
