Nik Zanella devoted his entire life to researching and mapping waves. In this book, the story of his life intertwines with the incredible and untold history of surfing in China. It was an honor for us to visually translate such a rich heritage.

From a graphic standpoint, our first challenge was to harmoniously combine the English narrative text with the poetic passages written in Chinese. The story features meticulous phonetic translations that we visually encoded to allow the best accessibility of content and fluidity of reading.
